GOOD NEWS FOR TE PŪKENGA APPRENTICES

Earn Unit Standards Through Your Apprenticeship Journey

The Workforce Development Council (WDC) has determined that apprentices can now earn the following unit standards based on real-world experience:

  • Unit Standard 30557: Select, describe, use, and maintain tools for plumbing and drainlaying projects
  • Unit Standard 30727: Demonstrate knowledge and use of gasfitting tools and testing equipment

Currently this only applies to Te Pūkenga apprentices.

Masterlink Apprentice Training Manager, Pete Shields, is enquiring with ICE about extending this to ICE apprentices as well.

How does it work?
After completing specific modules and block courses, your skills for these unit standards will be automatically recognised as a part of the apprenticeship pathway, without the need for a formal assessment.

Do apprentices need to do anything?
No. All current Te Pūkenga apprentices who meet the criteria have been identified and awarded these units.
