ROADSHOW: NEW APPRENTICE TRAINING MODEL

We encourage all apprentices and employers to attend the upcoming roadshow on the new apprentice training model, which is set to launch in January 2025. This is the biggest review of PGD apprentice qualifications in 30 years.

The new model introduces workplace assessment and verification of tasks by a licenced person in the business, who has sufficient opportunity to observe the apprentice's performance. There will also be a stronger focus on teaching at block course.

The free roadshow starts in Wellington TODAY and will run at all main centres, followed by regional events. Book your place now!

SMASHING IT

In just one day together, seven of our amazing Napier apprentices smashed out 34 unit standards at the latest Masterlink apprentice training workshop. The next is planned for Auckland this month. Keen to attend a session in your area? Be in touch with your regional manager.

THANKS FOR PARTICIPATING IN OUR BWARE CAMPAIGN!

Thank you to all our apprentices for downloading and logging into the Masterlink BWARE Health & Safety App. This is a crucial tool for reporting any workplace near misses, incidents or injuries to Masterlink as part of our collective commitment to health and safety.

Congratulations to Sean Thompson, Jacob Hooker and Mpho Mugabe, the three winners of our prize draw for apprentices who downloaded and logged into the app before 14 June! Your $100 Prezzy Cards will be sent out shortly.

SAFELY DOES IT

Hand and finger injuries

At future appraisals, we will be looking at the most common injuries to be notified via the BWARE app each quarter – and discussing safety solutions.

Hand and finger injuries topped the recent notifications, and will be the topic at your next appraisal. Check out our Injury Hotspots flyer for some safety advice.

A NIGHT AT PLUMBING WORLD

As part of their 60th birthday celebrations, Plumbing World held an event in June for Master Plumbers and Master Builders at their Kerikeri branch.

Masterlink apprentice Zoe was the lucky raffle prize winner, while her host, Zane Britton of BOI Plumbing & Gas, volunteered as the demo model for guest speaker and manual handling specialist Richie Patterson, who gave insight into how we can better manage our bodies.
